Time flys when you are having fun.  After graduating from Palma I really needed time to find out what I wanted to do in life.

I had always been passionate about sports so I took up bowling and bocci ball full time, which was great since I could play one indoors during the winter & the other outdoors in the Summer. It was competitive sports at its finest but it was short-lived.  Failing to qualify for the Nationals in either event after years of intense training & dedication I had to move on.

Since many of my friends went on to college at Cal Poly in order to learn something that would enable them to live and flourish back in Salinas I decided I would follow that path as well.  So, I entered Rodeo Clown school with the ultimate hope that I could make it back to the California State rodeo someday.  That dream ended abruptly with a well pointed shot to the rear.

So, finally I found my calling which has allowed me to marry the perfect woman and raise a beautiful family down in Arroyo Grande, California.  I am a back-up singer and stand-in dancer for the likes of Ricky Martin & Enrique Iglesias.  It is alot of hard work and not as glamorous as it sounds but it pays the bills.   I am looking forward to seeing evevrybody in October and am eternally indebted to Palma and teachers & Coaches such as Mr. Conlon, Mr. Kingston, etc who pushed me to the limit in my formitive years so I could "be all I could be".

Hmmmm...20 years...where do I begin? After high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I went to Hartnell for a couple of years and transferred to CSU, Sacramento to receive my Bachelor's in Communications. Afterward, I went on to Loma Linda University to earn a Master's Degree in Public Health. During my last years in college, I met a wonderful man (who would end up being my husband Derek). While dating, we shared a common bond of couples dancing (west coast swing, cha-cha, two-step, waltz) and competed in the dance circuit together for several years. As far as career goes, I worked as a Senior Health Educator for both Health Net and Kaiser. I also worked at Pacificare as the Northern California Manager for the Health Improvement Dept. After 6 years of marriage, hubby and I decided it was time to start having kids. We now have a beautiful daughter, Alyssa, 5 years old and a wonderful son Ryan, 3 years old. We decided that I would put the career on hold and stay home to raise the kids. It was the best decision we ever made. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the kids- true blessings! Two years ago, I purchased a franchise called Stroller Strides so I could work from home. Owning a business has been rewarding but definitely has taken me out of my comfort zone!
Like many of you, I cannot believe it has been 20 years. Are we really that old? Nah! Age is just a state of mind, right? =)
I look forward to seeing some old friends and catching up...

Twenty years later……..

Went on to Cal Poly SLO after high school and roomed with John Davidson first year in the dorms.  Many great stories most of which are best left off our website.

Have been employed in the produce industry here in the Salinas Valley for the last 13 years.  I work for Mann Packing Company in sales.

My wife Katy and I met in 1998 playing on the same city league softball team.  We were married in 2000 and will celebrate our 8th anniversary in late September of this year.  In 2005 we adopted our son.  His name is Charlie and we could not be happier parents.  Charlie currently loves to sing the alphabet song and ride his tricycle around the block.

I feel pretty lucky to see a decent amount of my high school buddies and try to keep in contact with others by way of email.

Life is good and we look forward to seeing everyone in October.

No pictures for me!  Not a big camera fan, digital or otherwise.  It sure is great to see where everyone has landed since 1988. I have enjoyed reading the stories of success.

I headed off to Sonoma State University in 1988 and wanted to be the next Katie Couric.  That dream lasted about a semester, because I figured out that it would take me awhile to work my way up through the NBC ranks, particularly in the California media market.  I graduated in 1993 and headed to Washington DC to begin my fifteen year career in Higher Education.  I spent some time in our nation's capital enjoying the sights, politics, history while working at The Catholic University of America.  In 1994, I moved to Indiana, Pennsylvania to pursue my Masters Degree in Higher Education and Counseling while working full-time at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP).  In 1996 after I graduated from IUP, at my father's encouragement, I moved back to California and did a short stint of work at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

I moved back to the Monterey Peninsula in Summer of 1996.  I was invited to work, at that time, at "start-up" CSU Monterey Bay to build and manage the Office of Student Life.  No kids in my life...probably because I felt like I birthed the department there while working 12-14 hours a day for the first six years.  Apparently I work best with much ambiguity. This is also where Maria A. Y. Garcia and I professionally crossed paths.  Who knew that she would also pursue a career in higher education administration!!!

I stayed at CSUMB for ten years and left January 2007 to work at West Valley College in Los Gatos/Saratoga, a college that has been serving Silicon Valley for over thirty years. I am still employed here and will stay for another two years as the Director of Student Life. I am not too thrilled about living in the Bay Area.

The higher purpose in leaving CSU Monterey Bay was to start my doctorate in Educational Leadership and I am doing just that.  I am part of the first cohort of students, who through legislation by Govenor Arnold S, can earn a degree from a CSU campus without a UC school partner.  I should graduate from San Francisco State University in May 2010. I just finished my first grueling year this summer!!  I need the Ph.D to fulfill my ultimate goal of College President or District Chancellor.

Over the recent years, I have also become quite adept at campaigns and elections.  My older brother, Dennis Donohue is the current Mayor of Salinas and hopefully will be re-elected this November.  My mother, Pat Donohue (widowed and retired) is the President of the Board of Trustees at Hartnell College.  I supported each of their widely media covered campaigns.

My boyfriend, Graciano and I are looking forward to seeing all who are able to attend our upcoming reunion.

I'm the marketing director for the Monterey County Convention & Visitors Bureau. We promote the area to tourists, and support all the cities including Salinas, Monterey, Castroville, Big Sur...the whole enchilada. I've been in destination marketing and non-profit management for 10+ years now, and there are things about it that I really love. And, then there are the things I don't love so much.

My apartment is a couple blocks up from my office on Cannery Row. It was built over the site for the old Dream Theater. I've mostly stayed in Monterey County since high school. I feel lucky to keep in touch with a few Notre Dame and Palma alums, and run in to lots of people all the time. We don't look so old to me.

My parents moved from Salinas down to Paso Robles, and are still doing wine. Check out their website at www.lafilice.com. My brother's joined the game and was in Paso for a while, but just moved up to Napa to work for Silver Oak.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in Carmel. Plan to come early and stay late.

PS-In this "now" image that's Laura (deMelo) Cornett, me and Carmella (Cuva) Heinz.

After high school I moved around California for a while trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life.  After five years of this I decided to move to South Dakota where I stayed for ten years, it was different but fullfilling, met my husband there.  My husband and I have been married for ten years this past January.  I finally got tired of all the snow and cold weather and we moved with our two children to south Florida, where we have been for five years now.  I finally graduated from college last October as a registered nurse.  I work for a nursing home as a rehab nurse.  Life is exciting with a twelve year old girl and an eight year old boy.  We are always busy with cheerleading and baseball.  Life is good though.
Hope to see everyone in October, especially since I have not been back to California in about seven years now.

I enjoyed reading everyone's posting, but then I thought, you know, for feeling like I've been very busy every day... I don't know that I do that much hmmm... go figure...

So, rather than try and come up with something clever, 'cause, let's face it- ain't gonna happen right now   :D   I'll just copy and paste what I wrote on my classmates blurb.

"A mind is like a parachute, it's only good when it's open"

Do you know TED?  (actually, since TED takes place in Monterey, you guys probably have all heard of it)  I don't- not really... but, I'd like to be the type of person who TED would want to ask to speak (but for what, I'm still working on that- although, I DO set a mean table!).  Here's an example- if you have the time,  www.ted.com/index.php/talks/j_j_abrams_mystery_box.html

Since graduating from high school, and watching the movie, "Parenthood"  ;)  , I know now that life is like a rollercoaster. I have learned from the low and rejoiced the high...

However, I get motion sickness at the drop of a hat-  but I digress-  there are too many places in the world I want to see for me to stop traveling.

In the last 20 years, I worked with monkeys, Private Eyes, kids, and kids who acted like monkeys.

I lived in a VW Bus in Europe, supporting the art of busking. I taught kids who had Au pairs since before they were born, and kids who had seen such horrors it was remarkable that they were born at all.    I have 4 amazingly wonderful children who make me laugh daily ( Keira 8, Declan 7, Clover 5 and Braiden 18 mo. ) and a dog more loyal than Lassie (well, at least to me).

My finger nails are dirty, but I have a yard worthy of "the Napping House" followed by an entry filled with juggling props, musical instruments and Starwars toys (currently it's a Pixie Hallow wonderland- we had a birthday party last weekend).

I lead both Girl and Boy Scouts... but I won't wear the uniform (hmmm... I wonder- can anyone else wear plaid yet?).  I can't live without coffee, good beer, duct tape and the friendship of my book club and Bunco girls.  I frequent farmers markets, stand for Veterans, and dance at concerts.  I believe in "think globally, bike locally" and want to see the polar caps and rain forests before they are gone.  I intended to run a marathon before I am 40- but, with all the biking I've been doing, I'm now thinking:  Triathlon!!! (Anyone want to run it with me?)

I have learned that I thrive on change:  the longest I've ever worked for one employer is 18 months.  Might make you wonder how I have stayed in love with the same person since 1989... I can because he is my best friend, touchstone, soul mate, kindred spirit, Twin Flame...

JJ Abrams says, "Mystery is the catalyst for imagination" and "withholding of information- doing that intentionally; is more engaging" ... I agree.

So... anymore questions you might have, :D  or not... drop me a line, or better yet, see me at the reunion!

I'll be the one with the noisy "Parenthood-esque" kids  :)  and the amazingly handsome husband  :D

20 years in a couple paragraphs:

Kel and I headed down to what seemed to be Palma/ND South for a few years (aka Cal Poly SLO).  Loved it as I am sure most who spend time there do.  Came back to Monterey for a bit while I worked for Household, then headed south again to L.A. for a year.  After we had our fill of SoCal, I got a job with GE in Marin County.  It was a great experience, but the corporate world was wearing on us.

So, we decided to try the rural life up in the mountains (Graeagle, CA) and I traded in my laptop, cell phone and frequent flyer miles for a tool belt and skill saw and became a carpenter for a couple years.  Best job I ever had!

But eventually, the weather caught up with me and I needed to head back to the office. So I have now been with Microsoft for the last few years.  Luckily, I can telecommute, so we are happy to stay up in the mountains.

Through all this, we are extremely lucky to have 3 beautiful children: Rhanna 11, Thane 6 and Emrys 2.  We absolutely love being parents!

And yes, I did actually change my name to Abe.  Following a family tradition that started with my great-grandfather, then to my grandfather and now me.

Looking forward to seeing you all!

Wow...after looking at some of the photos on here all I have to say is "who the hell are you people?"  Did I subconsciously block out all of High School?  NO!  After much pondering I realized I hadn't blocked it out rather, the memories were dislodged one afternoon after jumping out of the back of John Davidson's truck while it was still moving.  Anyway,  I digress.

After attending Clown College(yes, I actually went) I realized that'd get me about as far as a Master's in Animal Husbandry so I decided to further my education.  Upon graduating from UCLA I decided to try my luck in tinsel town.  I enjoyed a modicum of success but moved to San Francisco in 1994 to act in a play.  The rest is, as they say, history.  I have been here ever since, with short sojourns in NYC and Las Vegas in between.

Here in The City it is great being a HUGE fish in a small pond.  I have done several feature films, hundreds of commercials and 5 years on the series Nash Bridges.

Currently I am the producer and Host of the Hush Hush Revue - a Vaudeville/Burlesque Variety Show that is enjoying great success(yes, I do strip...I sing and dance too!).  Having just closed a two year run here in SF, we are on the road performing at corporate events and other venues throughout the States and abroad.

I am still doing magic and can be seen regularly in Vegas and LA at the Magic Castle.

Luckily, I have dodged the marriage bullet not once...but twice!  Needless to say I am still single but am dating a really sweet lady.  Although she is starting to ask those annoying questions one gets in the newer stages of a relationship.  Questions like "where do you live?", "what is your last name?" and "when can I get my car back?" Sheesh!

Ok, that's enough about me.  If you want to know more you'll have to ask me at the Reunion.  I'll be the Damned Sexy Bald Guy more than likely no more than a few feet from the bar.

Howdy Y'all.  Thanks for putting this site together!  Twenty years - what do I have to show...hmmm.  Well, I still go to the fort on Fridays but none of you guys show up.  After football games I hang out in front of Palma in my VW Scirocco or go to Round Table and mooch pizza from folks.  Pretty much still have the flat top / mullet (but some is falling out). Don't put lemon in my hair to make it light in the front anymore.  Haven't seen Lavorato much, but still like to ride my bike in Corral / Toro.

OK OK .   Did Cal Poly, some time in Denmark, went to grad school in Idaho (a state in the northwest near Montana), lived in Sandpoint, Idaho (just south of BC border) for 6 years, Utah Desert 3 years, Pullman, WA a year (You were gone by then Andy Tribble - but you were liked and remembered by all the Wassu fans!).  I have been in Oregon for 3 years - finally nesting - bought a house, got the dog, still not married.  Got close once but then it blew up - details if you seek them will be given at Spreckles on Saturday the 5th.  Love to Tele ski, run rivers in my drift boats, fish, bike, drink beer, eat sunflowers seeds...the usual stuff.  Stop by when you are in Oregon - I got plenty of room!
